MSA Rally for Retention Celebration

Parents and families will be invited to become partners in the academic success of their student. The
celebration will consist of an awards ceremony where students will be recognized for their outstanding
academic achievements in Spring 2014, a leadership induction ceremony as well as a talent showcase.

Ship Family Raider Rumble

Shippensburg Civil War Trail Walking Tour  

1:00 — 4:00 PM, Downtown Shippensburg, 52 West King Street  

Guided walking tours of the Shippensburg Civil War Trail will take place at 12 & 2 PM, and last 30 to 45 minutes. Self-guided tour maps will be available at the Registration, Ticket Sales and Information Area in the event of inclement weather. Meet at the Shippensburg Historical Society located at 52 West King Street, 5 to 10 minutes before the tour. (Parking available on Burd Street, behind the Shippen Place Hotel, or at the Fireman’s Activity Center on Orange Street). 


Shippensburg Historical Society Tours  

1:00 — 4:00 PM, Downtown Shippensburg, 52 West King Street  

Founded in 1945, the Shippensburg Historical Society is a private, non-profit membership organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. Capacity is limited to 15-20 people at a time. The building is not handicap accessible and we apologize for this inconvenience. See above under

Tours of the Old Courthouse 

1:00 — 4:00 PM, Downtown Shippensburg, 352 East King Street  

Situated at the corner of King and Queen Streets in Shippensburg, this stone building dates to circa 1735. There were four terms of court held in Shippensburg. The courts were moved to Carlisle in 1751. Since 1928, the Civic Club has owned and maintained the building.  


S.T.A.R.S. Campus Tours  

2:00 – 4:00 PM, Meet at the Ship Deck Amphitheater, CUB 123 B 

Interested in discovering some of SHIP’s history? Then come out and enjoy exploring campus and hearing stories regarding the older buildings on campus. Buildings visited include Old Main, Stewart Hall and the Little Red Schoolhouse. Tours will begin every half hour starting at 2:00 PM (2:00, 2:30, 3:00 and 3:30 PM) so please arrive 5 minutes prior. Meet in front of the Orndorff Theater (OT), CUB 123.  


Sail Away Open House 

2:00 - 4:00 PM, Anchor Meeting Room 6, CUB 232

Come learn about the process of studying abroad and how students can have an opportunity to travel the world! Representatives will be available to answer your questions about program options, credit transfers and international travel as well as how to fund the experience. A short presentation will take place at 3:00 PM focusing on frequently asked questions and financial aid. Drop by for a snack and some conversation.

Paint Nite

4:00 - 6:00 PM, CUB MPR A  

Paint Nite is a new concept of blending artistic painting and hanging out with friends and family! Participants will follow the step-by-step instructions of one master local artist from blank canvas to masterpiece. Paint Nite is about making art accessible to people who don’t consider themselves artists or creative in any way. It is about fostering a fun, low stress, non-judgmental environment that inspires everyone to enjoy the process of creating something from nothing! Fee includes canvas, paint, snacks and drinks. ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Limited tickets will be available for purchase on site on a first-come, first-served basis at the Registration, Ticket Sales and Information Area. To reserve spaces, please complete and return the attached registration form.

Grace B. Luhrs University Elementary School (GBLUES) Fall Festival 

4:00 - 8:00 PM, Student Recreation Complex  

Join GBLUES in their annual Fall Festival complete with carnival games, nature crafts, cupcake walk, relays, a bake sale, basket raffles, an extensive dinner and more! Entry wristbands are only $5 for an activity wristband, $3 for a craft wristband. All preschoolers are FREE!

A Night Under the Stars  

5:30 & 7:30 PM, Dibert Planetarium, Franklin Science Center, First Floor  

Join Jack Roddick, class of ’47, for a 60 minute live simulated presentation of the night sky with 2,000 stars that is extremely realistic. Space is available for 55 people on a first-come, first-served basis. 


Residence Hall Association (RHA) Weekend Program 

8:00 - 11:00 PM, Ceddia Union Building (CUB) Multi Purpose Room (MPR)  

Come spend the evening with the Residence Hall Association! Fun and food will be provided!!!
