About Student Veterans of America

SVA is a coalition of student veteran groups from college campuses across the U.S. The Shippensburg University Chapter was founded in January 2010 by fellow student veteran Joshua D. Lang. SVA is a tax exempt organization that works with student veterans in order to create a successful transition from military service to an educational atmosphere. This is done by coordinating between existing student groups and advocating on behalf of student veterans at the local and state level.

Purpose:

The purpose of Student Veterans of America (SVA) is first and foremost, to ensure that veterans and non-veteran students that are currently, active duty personnel, reservists, as well as ROTC undergraduate students attending Shippensburg University receive all benefits entitled to them. Secondly, our purpose is to provide a fellowship of like-minded individuals in order to create a network of students and successful alumni in order to provide professional and leadership development.

Goal:

Our main goal is to generally promote communication and interaction among veterans in order to promote a healthy environment for veterans while attending Shippensburg University.

Mission:

To enhance the educational experience of veterans in higher education by empowering and supporting student veteran groups at Shippensburg University.
