     Get Involved!

involved2So you want to be On Air?
Then you've come to the right place! WSYC (We Serve Your Community) is Shippensburg University's student funded and run radio station. In addition to playing music that you wouldn't hear on other stations, we provide the students and community with sports and news casts.

Do I have to be a DJ?
Being a DJ is a lot of fun, but there are other opportunities at WSYC as well. You can be an ad copywriter, sportscaster, board operator, or promotions assistant. You can be a news anchor, compiling and reporting the day's headlines on air. Or, you can even have your own talk show. Radio is a big place - just about anything is possible with WSYC!

Where are you guys located?
The WSYC studio is located on the 3rd floor of the Ceddia Union Building (CUB), the University's student building. We are next to The Slate, the student newspaper, and SUTV the student TV station. You are welcome to stop by any time the station is open to learn more about it!

Involved1What does being a member entail?
All members are trained in the proper use of the audio board and all related station equipment and software. All members are also given instruction on the application of current FCC rules and regulations. In addition, members are taught how to make on-air promos for a show or for the station in general. If you decide to be involved in news or sports, the respective directors will train you in what you need to do on-air and behind the scenes.

Members must attend all monthly general meetings and should actively participate in station events.

Alright! You have me convinced. Where do I sign up?
Becoming involved with WSYC is easy. You can visit the station, attend a general meeting, or simply email Dr. Carlin ( to get started. Any SU student can be a WSYC member!
